Believe It Or Not: Justin Bieber Unveils Album Cover!

Pop star tweets standard and deluxe album covers for June 19 release, cryptically telling fans, 'expect the unexpected.'
By Katie Byrne

<P>Judging by the cover art for <a href="/music/artist/bieber_justin/artist.jhtml">Justin Bieber</a>'s <i>Believe</i> album, the 18-year-old pop star is well aware of one of his best assets: his boyish good looks. The cover, which Bieber <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/justinbieber/status/196005439043928065" target="_blank">tweeted</a> on Friday evening (April 27), is simply a black-and-white close-up of his face with the word "BELIEVE" stamped in a yellow caution-tape font underneath. </P><P> </P><P>"Here is the #BELIEVEalbumCover standard version," he tweeted, <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/justinbieber/status/196006318425915392" target="_blank">followed</a> by a second tweet that included a sepia-toned version of the same image: "and this is the DELUXE #BELIEVEalbumCover - #52DAYS - excited? expect the unexpected." </P><P> </P><P><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:754722/cp~vid%3D754722%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A754722" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed> </P><P> </P><P>After posting the <i>Believe</i> album cover on Friday, Bieber <a href="https://twitter.com/#!/julieannxoxo/status/196007330838626305" target="_blank">retweeted</a> one fan's over-the-top reaction to the artwork: "That awkward moment when I almost ran over a lady and hit the car in front of me cuz I saw the #BELIEVEAlbumCover lololol," @julieannxoxo wrote. </P><P> </P><P><a href="/news/articles/1683335/justin-bieber-believe-the-voice.jhtml">Bieber just revealed the June 19 <i>Believe</i> release date</a> last week on "The Voice," also bringing along a teaser from his yet-unreleased "Boyfriend" video. Star Wars Arcade gets fan made mini-me, weeps tears of joy (video)

Image

Arcade fan (and genius) Le Chuck got up one morning and thought "Why not build a perfect replica of Atari's Star Wars Arcade, at 1:6 scale?" The result is this amazing 12-inch cabinet with a fully working Atari-yoke, handmade from aluminum and a pair of potentiometers. Tucked inside the box is a modded Caanoo running MAME4all, which has been tweaked to boot straight into the game when activated. The whole project took him over 80 hours to put together, but we think it was time very well spent. If you want to see the thing in action (and sing along to the 8-bit version of the theme) then head on past the break.

NZXT's Cryo E40 laptop cooler sends a pleasant breeze wherever you like

NZXT's Cryo E40 laptop cooler sends a pleasant breeze wherever you like

NZXT is pretty good when it comes to avoiding unnecessary flourishes and providing straight-up PC hardware. Its Cryo E40 laptop cooler is no different, forgoing HDD slots and magic elixirs in favor of two 80mm fans that clasp magnetically to the underside of its steel mesh. These can be plucked off and moved around to suit your lappie's particular hotspots -- so long as you're using a 15-incher or smaller. The E40 rises to 60mm above the surface of your desk, covers an area 420mm wide by 300mm deep, and is powered via a USB cable that can also be shifted to the left or right to suit your ports. The price of all this flexibility? That'd be $28, please, with availability from next month.

Nicki Minaj's 'Starships' Video: All Hail The Queen

Young Money rapper throws a futuristic beach party in Anthony Mandler-directed clip.

Yes, starships were meant to fly, and rap's reigning queen was clearly meant to don a bikini and throw raving beach parties. Nicki Minaj finally released her "Starships" video Thursday night (April 26), and all her Barbz were invited to an electric beach party.

The Anthony Mandler-directed clip begins with a computer-generated UFO circling a tranquil Hawaiian island looking for a soft spot to land. While the natives lie on the beach, Ms. Minaj gets beamed down into the shallow waters sporting green hair and a sexy pink bathing suit.

It was back in March when pictures from the set first made their way online, and now that the video is finally here, it was clearly worth the wait. To see the Young Money starlet in motion is a thing of beauty. Not only does the curvaceous rap star frolic in the water, she then crawls through the sand on all fours creating a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue sort of moment.

The Minaj idol worship is in full effect as buff and tattooed male servants carry her around the island like the queen she is, but as the beat on the RedOne-produced dance hit picks up, so does the video's action. By the time the song's electro breakdown kicks in, the party gets jumping and Mandler employs a groovy kaleidoscope visual effect, which precisely captures the track's energy.

The clip climaxes as bonfires are set, flaming staffs are twirled and body paint is tossed about. Nicki parties hard with her flock jumping up and down, fist-pumping and dancing the night away. There's no grand story line or deep, hidden meaning; instead the Harajuku Barbie simply offers up a good time. The "Starships" video isn't exactly rocket science, it's just fly — exactly how it was meant to be.
