Basically the Don is the head of a crime family. He is the big boss, the rest of the family answers to him. Since your Don Floriole's daughter, that makes you really important to him since Italians or Sicilians generally find family the most important thing in their lives. At least thats my interpretation of it, I'm not Italian or Sicilian so I can't be sure.
