Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) attacked Mitt Romney Tuesday as unfit for office because he has flip-flopped on so many policy issues that he ?doesn?t know who he is.?
?He was for gay marriage when he was governor. Now he?s against it. He was for abortion when he was governor. Now he?s against it. Health care ? we modeled our bill to a large degree [on] what he did in Massachusetts. Now he?s trying to run from that. If someone doesn?t know who they are, they shouldn?t be president of the United States,? Reid told reporters in an unusually passionate response.

The Nevada Democrat, also a Mormon like Romney and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman, said that if he had to choose between candidates in the current GOP field, he would ?favor? Huntsman over Romney.
Reid?s knock on the former Massachusetts governor, and praise for the health care plan he enacted while in office, aligns with the Republican attack on Romney, especially from opponent Tim Pawlenty, who referred to the nation?s health care law in a national television interview as ?Obamneycare.? Meanwhile, Reid?s endorsement of Huntsman, no matter how lukewarm, plays into the message coming from the White House that the former ambassador to China is well-liked by Democrats.
Huntsman, who officially declared his candidacy earlier Tuesday, is especially susceptible to attacks that he is aligned with Democrats because of his position in the Obama administration, his vow Tuesday not to attack the president, and his low name recognition.
Reid was in a particularly fiery mood when it came to discussing the 2012 campaign. He also took aim at one of the Democratic nominees for Senate from his home state of Nevada, Byron Georgiou. Georgiou, whom Reid appointed to the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, is facing a variety of ethical questions in connection to his involvement on the panel. Reid said Tuesday he regretted making the appointment.
