Ouya Android game consoles will be available at Amazon, Best Buy ...

The touchpad on the controllers is what will make this console slick. Graphics is already great on high-end android games so I guess what's missing is some games with good story-lines.

Affordable console: check
Free/cheap games/apps: check
Hardware buttons: check
Analog stick: check
Touchpad: check

I'm gonna get one since it's not that expensive, but hopefully future games will have more substance than current good-graphics games on the playstore.

2. jroc74 posted on 13 hours ago 1 0

Same here. At that price I will get one just because.

Now...I can play Android games with a real controller. Free up my phone for other things when my kids come over and wanna see Android games on the TV. Or when they just wanna play games on my Android phone.

Now I need a bigger place.....so I can get another TV.....lol.

5. darac posted on 9 hours ago 0 0

If I'm not mistaken, this won't run the Play store games.
That's probably because of the lack of standardized controller support.

Too bad, because the potential is really there.

I hope they survive until all things settle into place - a standardized mapping support for all Android games, and the next generation hardware in Ouya 2 .(Tegra 4 etc.)

Then we could really witness a revolution in gaming

Awesome. I will have to pick one up.

Ex-FEMA director mocks Superdome blackout

The Superdome in New Orleans after a power surge on Feb. 3, 2013. (Dilip Vishwanat/Getty)

Like plenty of people watching the power outage in the New Orleans Superdome during the Super Bowl on Sunday, Michael Brown cracked a Katrina joke on Twitter.

Unlike plenty of people, however, Brown was former director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency under President George W. Bush, in charge of managing the federal response to the 2005 hurricane that killed more than 1,800 people and left thousands of residents homeless.

"Someone just told me there was fighting going on in the NOLA Superdome," Brown tweeted, adding the hashtag "#shocked."

Brown resigned as director of FEMA in the wake of what many critics said was a slow and incompetent response to Katrina?s aftermath?and just a week after Bush, on his first post-storm visit to the region, said, ?Brownie, you?re doing a heck of a job.?

His Superdome tweet also drew criticism, but Brown, now a talk radio host, did not back down.

"Come see the water line marks on the street signs by my church and see how funny Katrina/Dome tweets are," Twitter user Duris Holmes wrote.

"I saw them," Brown replied. "Blanco Nagin refused to look"?a reference to former Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco and former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin.

"Screen shots on iPad," he later tweeted. "Great for capturing vitriol that's later deleted from Twitter feed."

Brown added: "Blocking is quite useful, too."

It's not the first time since his FEMA resignation that Brown's been at the center of a controversy. Last fall, Brown criticized President Barack Obama for responding to Hurricane Sandy too early.

Emergency personnel assist victims at the scene of a bus crash near Forest Falls, Calif., Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013. A tour bus crashed with a pickup truck on a rural mountain highway in Southern California on Sunday night, killing multiple people and injuring dozens of others, a fire department spokesman said. The accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. near the town of Forest Falls, about 80 miles east of Los Angeles, San Bernardino County Fire Department spokesman Eric Sherwin said. (AP) ? At least eight people were killed and 38 injured Sunday when a tour bus careened out of control while traveling down a Southern California mountain road, struck a car, flipped and plowed into a pickup truck, authorities said.

The accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. about 80 miles east of Los Angeles and left State Route 38 littered with debris, the bus sideways across the two lanes and its front end crushed. Emergency crews worked to free passengers who were trapped in the bus, which was returning to Tijuana, Mexico, said California Highway Patrol spokesman Mario Lopez.

The violence of the crash and severity of the injuries made for a chaotic scene, and authorities had a difficult time determining how many people were injured or killed. Lopez said at least eight and perhaps 10 were dead, and 38 transported to hospitals.

California Department of Transportation spokeswoman Michelle Profant said the scene was shocking.

"It's really a mess up there with body parts," she said.

The bus driver survived and told investigators the bus suffered brake problems as it headed down the mountain, Lopez said. It rear-ended a sedan and flipped, then struck a pickup truck pulling a trailer.

Lettering on the bus indicated that it was operated by Scapadas Magicas LLC, a company based in National City, Calif. Federal transportation records show that the company is licensed to carry passengers for interstate travel and that it had no crashes in the past two years.

A call to the company was not immediately returned.

Jordi Garcia, a manager for InterBus Tours, said his company ran Sunday's trip. He told U-T San Diego that 38 people departed Tijuana at 5 a.m. for a day of skiing at Big Bear.

"The information that we have is that the bus' brakes failed and the accident occurred," he said.

Route 38 runs through the San Bernardino National Forest and leads to Big Bear. The accident occurred as the bus was headed south and leaving the forest.

Patients were taken to several area hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to life-threatening. Among them, Arrowhead Regional Medical Center said it had treated six people, including two women who were discharged early Monday. The hospital said two other women were in critical condition while two other patients were stable.

The California crash comes less than a day after a bus carrying 42 high school students and their chaperones slammed into an overpass in Boston. Massachusetts state police said 35 people were injured and that the driver had directed the bus onto a road with a height limit.

HP intros the Pavilion 14 Chromebook, its first Chrome OS device: available now for $330

HP intros the Pavilion 14 Chromebook, its first Chrome OS device: available now for $330

Remember last week when HP leaked a 14-inch Chromebook on its own site? That was a big surprise, to say the least -- the company has never put out a Chrome OS system before, and we weren't aware this was even that popular a category. Well, HP just officially announced the Pavilion 14 Chromebook, and pretty much the only surprise is the availability date: we had heard it would go on sale February 17th, but it's actually available today for $330.

Suffice to say, that's more than what you'll pay for Samsung's Chromebook ($249) or Acer's C7 ($199). For the money, it offers similar specs as the Acer C7, but the design appears considerably more polished. Meanwhile, with a 1.1GHz Intel Celeron 847 CPU and 2GB of RAM, it should perform a bit better than the Samsung model, which has a nice design, but chugs along on a lower-powered ARM processor. Like most other Chromebooks, this one has 16GB of built-in flash storage, along with a 1,366 x 768 display. Users also get 100GB of Google Drive space (free for the first two years).

All told, this 14-inch system weighs about four pounds, making it not only the biggest Chromebook on the market, but the heaviest. At least that 0.8-inch chassis makes room for a good selection of ports: HDMI output, three USB 2.0 sockets and an SD reader. It even has an Ethernet jack, something that Samsung's removed from its latest Chrome OS device. Unfortunately, though, a bigger footprint doesn't mean a bigger battery: the Pavilion 14 Chromebook is rated for four hours and 15 minutes of runtime, putting it behind Samsung's model. So, are a sleek design and stronger performance worth the premium? We'll tackle that in our eventual review, but if you buy today you'll just have to make that call yourself.

(AP) ? It really does get better for gay and bisexual teens when it comes to being bullied, although young gay men have it worse than their lesbian peers, according to the first long-term scientific evidence on how the problem changes over time.

The seven-year study involved more than 4,000 teens in England who were questioned yearly through 2010, until they were 19 and 20 years old. At the start, just over half of the 187 gay, lesbian and bisexual teens said they had been bullied; by 2010 that dropped to 9 percent of gay and bisexual boys and 6 percent of lesbian and bisexual girls.

The researchers said the same results likely would be found in the United States.

In both countries, a "sea change" in cultural acceptance of gays and growing intolerance for bullying occurred during the study years, which partly explains the results, said study co-author Ian Rivers, a psychologist and professor of human development at Brunel University in London.

That includes a government mandate in England that schools work to prevent bullying, and changes in the United States permitting same-sex marriage in several states.

In 2010, syndicated columnist Dan Savage launched the "It Gets Better" video project to encourage bullied gay teens. It was prompted by widely publicized suicides of young gays, and includes videos from politicians and celebrities.

"Bullying tends to decline with age regardless of sexual orientation and gender," and the study confirms that, said co-author Joseph Robinson, a researcher and assistant professor of educational psychology at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. "In absolute terms, this would suggest that yes, it gets better."

The study appears online Monday in the journal Pediatrics.

Eliza Byard, executive director of the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network, said the results mirror surveys by her anti-bullying advocacy group that show bullying is more common in U.S. middle schools than in high schools.

But the researchers said their results show the situation is more nuanced for young gay men.

In the first years of the study, gay boys and girls were almost twice as likely to be bullied as their straight peers. By the last year, bullying dropped overall and was at about the same level for lesbians and straight girls. But the difference between men got worse by ages 19 and 20, with gay young men almost four times more likely than their straight peers to be bullied.

The mixed results for young gay men may reflect the fact that masculine tendencies in girls and women are more culturally acceptable than femininity in boys and men, Robinson said.

Savage, who was not involved in the study, agreed.

"A lot of the disgust that people feel when you bring up homosexuality ... centers around gay male sexuality," Savage said. "There's more of a comfort level" around gay women, he said.

Kendall Johnson, 21, a junior theater major at the University of Illinois, said he was bullied for being gay in high school, mostly when he brought boyfriends to school dances or football games.

"One year at prom, I had a guy tell us that we were disgusting and he didn't want to see us dancing anymore," Johnson said. A football player and the president of the drama club intervened on his behalf, he recalled.

Johnson hasn't been bullied in college, but he said that's partly because he hangs out with the theater crowd and avoids the fraternity scene. Still, he agreed, that it generally gets better for gays as they mature.

"As you grow older, you become more accepting of yourself," Johnson said.

(AP) ? CeeLo was looking for a little New Orleans action. David Gregory was taking the weekend off from "Meet the Press." And Paul McCartney was hanging out at a party that included Pitbull and Flo Rida.

It was a rich and eclectic mix of stars of all wattages on Friday night, as partying got under way in earnest before Sunday's big game.

CeeLo was the featured performer at ESPN Magazine's "Next" party, which had a guest list that included Michael Phelps, NASCAR driver Kyle Busch, Kelly Rowland, Anthony Mackie, Jeremy Piven, Josh Hutcherson, and current and former football players like Emmitt Smith, Cris Carter, DeSean Jackson.

CeeLo performed with his old rap clique Goodie Mobb: The group, which was an offshoot of OutKast before CeeLo became a solo hit, is coming out with a new album later this year. Though the ESPN party was the main event of his night, he made it clear it would not be his only one: "New Orleans has got a lot to offer, I may get into a little trouble."

The stars were spread out across New Orleans: McCartney gave a rock royalty air to the Rolling Stone party, which featured performances by Flo Rida and Pitbull and guests that included Chace Crawford and Sofia Vergara.

At Audi's Super Bowl lounge, Will Ferrell, Jeremy Renner and Olivia Munn mingled, and Playboy attracted Neil Patrick Harris, David Arquette and others. Back at the ESPN party, Gregory, a Redskins fan, admitted to playing hooky from his weekly political show for the big game.

"To get a chance to come to New Orleans on top of it all, it doesn't get much better than this. I love sports, I love the Super Bowl, so this is a great opportunity," said Gregory, who was rooting for the Ravens.

Mackie, an actor and New Orleans native, was excited to have the Super Bowl in his hometown once again, though he's still smarting that the Saints aren't in it; the team fared poorly this season after being hit with significant sanctions by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell over allegations of bounty hits on opposing players.

When asked what he would say to Goodell if he saw him, Mackie said: "I'd tell him congratulations. What he wanted to happen happened, so now the saints are going to come back twice as hard next season."

Atlanta Pastor Teaches Class on Healthy Gay Relationships and His ...

Tabernacle Baptist Pastor Dennis Meredith, healthy homosexual relationships

Atlanta Pastor Teaches Class on Healthy Gay Relationships and His Past is a Telling Story

Pastor Dennis Meredith of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Atlanta is said to be having a special relationships class coming up in February. He seems to have become or maybe is already, what he may call himself, a relationship expert. He?s not just claiming to teach a class about having healthy relationships between women and men but what he calls out (stated in photo above) ?femms vs non femms; masculinity vs non masculinity and tops vs bottoms?. Wow, how?s that for some gay street talk and for those who know exactly what he?ll be discussing in the classroom.

Now, one of our readers sent us the flyer posted above about the event and we researched and found out Obnoxious TV was the first to break the news on this story.

Well, AT2W has some news of their own. In Obnoxious? post, he stated Pastor Dennis Meredith was the pastor of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Oakland, Ca. According to? Obnoxious, he was a well known pastor and great singer but rumors of alleged gay activities swarmed the church community and he and his family eventually left the church to Birmingham then to his current church home in Atlanta.

Now, we took a good look at this pastor and it struck us how we remembered his face. Pastor Dennis Meredith was the pastor that came out in recent years for speaking on the Bishop Eddie Long scandal.

Pastor Meredith spoke out on CNN about how God has allowed the scandal to come out because it will bridge gap between gays and straights. In the video below, he criticized Bishop Eddie Long for not coming out and dealing with the issue of sexual abuse. Meredith admitted he is a gay and bisexual man and his church is gay affirming. He says Long should have made a confession about his sexuality instead of hiding behind people who will protect him.

So, this gives us a better understanding of why Meredith is coming out with the ?Healthy Relationship Class? at his Tabernacle Baptist Church in Atlanta.

But, this is not all we found out and how we connected the dots to Pastor Dennis Meredith. As you can see, Pastor Dennis Meredith came forward to talk against Bishop Eddie Long but not everyone knew he himself allegedly had the same issue back in the day at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Oakland, according to Obnoxious TV. Though he admits he is a gay/bisexual man and pastor with a gay affirming, did he, as he wanted Bishop Eddie Long to do, admit he had alleged sexual misconduct with men in his church or elsewhere as a pastor of a church?

We don?t know the answer to that question but this is what we do know: He is a gay affirming pastor in Atlanta where it is accepted to be whatever you want in or out of the church. He?s doing actually what The Vision Church of Atlanta with Bishop O.C. Allen does and as you know, he and his husband are celebrating the adopted birth of their new born girl.

But once again, we now know where we saw him last. It was at a conference held by Pastor Jamal Bryant. If you can remember, Pastor Jamal Bryant spoke out last summer about how the church needs to back up President Obama and his acceptance of gay marriage even if they do not agree with his stance. At that time, we did research on that subject and found a video series of Bryant speaking to a reformed lesbian woman, Elder Brenda Burton and her book and a gay/bissexual pastor who aired his past on the stage. Guess who that pastor was? Oh, yes. It was Pastor Dennis Meredith. He was pretty candid about his story, so we thought.

It is interesting that Pastor Jamal Bryant had this conference, and one of the speakers was Pastor Dennis Meredith.

You will need to watch the videos Part 2 through 7 to hear his story for yourself but here?s some tidbits about his story which he candidly expressed at the conference:

On part 2 and 3 of Homosexuality in the House of God, he stated he remembers having sex with both men and women as early was seven years old. Some were family members and neighborhood friends. He said he was married at age 26 and had been living as a bissexual man all of his life yet he never disclosed his bissexuality to his wife until 12 years later. He claims at that time ?something happened? where he needed to tell her. He says his wife was upset but wanted him to ?go get help and get fixed;, and she?d be willing to stay with him.

He stated a psychologist wanted her to accept his sexuality but she found another clinic in Los Angeles where they wanted to give him meds to take away the desires to have sex. They ended up in counseling for five years. Moving forward, he states they eventually moved to Atlanta as a family. Again, if Obnoxious TV is correct, Pastor Meredith left out many important parts about being a pastor in Oakland, California and having to leave because of alleged sexual encounters with males, allegedly. At this conference, he allegedly and/or conveniently leaves all of this out and fast forwards his story to Atlanta.

He also stated that in 2001, his son told him he was gay at age 21 years old. He admits his wife was very upset about this news yet he understood. He says they went to counseling to try and fix their son, so the wife wanted. Now this is an interesting part here: He said the counselor asked Meredith?s wife: ?Why do you think God gave you a bissexual husband and a gay son?? Then he explained that God must be teaching you to have unconditional love.

Wow! What do you think of that?

You can see and hear the rest of the story HERE and please start on Part 2 thru Part 3 and on. It is a very interesting conversation.
